SUBJECT : LIFTING OF SUSPENSION FROM THE PRACTICE OF LAW OF ATTY. SERIO C. SUMAYOD
For your information and guidance, quoted hereunder is the Resolution dated 26 February 2018 of the First Division in Administrative Case No. 8353, entitled "Ranulfo S.J. Abellanosa v. Atty. Sergio C. Sumayod," to wit:
The Court resolves to NOTE
(1) the manifestation of compliance and very urgent motion to lift order of suspension dated January 29, 2018 of respondent, informing the Court that on September 27, 2017, he received a copy of the Resolution dated July 10, 2017 denying his motion for reconsideration of the Resolution dated November 21, 2016 suspending him from the practice of law for three (3) months, and that he ceased and desisted from the practice of law since October 1, 2017, and further, attaching therewith certifications from the Regional Trial Court Branches 6, 7, 8, 9, 34, 43, 44 and 46, Tacloban City, and Certification dated February 9, 2018 from the IBP Leyte Chapter, all affirming that respondent has desisted from the practice of law and did not appear as counsel in the local courts of the Province of Leyte and the City of Tacloban from October 1, 2017 up to present; and
(2) the Report dated February 13, 2018 of the Office of the Bar Confidant.
The Court further resolves to ADOPT and APPROVE the recommendation of the Office of the Bar Confidant in the attached Report dated February 13, 2018 (Annex "A"). Accordingly, the order of suspension from the practice of law imposed on respondent Atty. Sergio C. Sumayod is LIFTED and he is ALLOWED to RESUME his practice of law.
