SUBJECT : LIFTING OF SUSPENSION FROM THE PRACTICE OF LAW FOR THREE (3) MONTHS OF ATTY. MARLITO I. VILLANUEVA

For your information and guidance, quoted hereunder is the Resolution dated 25 January 2016 of the Court (First Division) in A.C. No. 8085, entitled "Felipe Layos vs. Atty. Marlito I. Villanueva," to wit:

The Court Resolves:

(1) to NOTE the petition of respondent Atty. Marlito I. Villanueva for reinstatement and authority to practice law dated September 25, 2015 (with annexes) praying that he be reinstated in good standing as a member of the Philippine Bar and that he be now authorized to practice law, and attaching therewith certifications from the Manila Chapter IV of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and from different courts where he has active and pending cases, stating that respondent did not appear as counsel in court from February 21, 2015 to May 21, 2015;

(2) to GRANT the motion of respondent Atty. Marlito I. Villanueva for an extension of ten (10) days from November 22, 2015 or up to December 1, 2015 within which to submit Local Chapter Certification of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, where he is a member, certifying and affirming that he has fully served his three (3) months suspension from February , 2015 to May 21, 2015;

(3) to NOTE the aforesaid Certification dated December 1, 2015 (with enclosures) issued by Atty. Rogelio N. Wong, President, Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Manila IV (Conrado V. Sanchez) Chapter, stating that respondent did not practice law from February 21, 2015 to May 21, 2015 and has in effect, served the three (3) months suspension imposed by the Court in the Resolution dated December 1, 2014; and

(4) to LIFT the order of respondent's suspension from the practice of law to ALLOW him to RESUME his practice of law.
