: INVENTORY OF ELECTION CONTESTS (ELECTION PROTEST/PETITION FOR QUO WARRANTO)

The Supreme Court has issued the Rules of Procedure In Election Contests Before The Court Involving Municipal and Barangay Officials (A.M. No. 07-4-15-SC dated April 24, 2007). Pursuant thereto, some branches of the Metropolitan Trial Courts and Municipal Trial Courts in Cities were designated as special courts to try and decide election contests involving elective barangay officials. In stations where there are no courts designated as such, said cases shall be raffled among the branches thereat. Single sala courts are considered special courts for the purpose.

In connection therewith, you are hereby directed to submit a report on election contests pending in your respective courts in accordance with the attached form (stating therein the case number, dated filed, title of the case, nature, date of summons, date of preliminary conference and latest status).

The report shall be submitted to the Office of the Chief Justice, copy furnished the Court Management Office, Office of the Court Administrator, immediately upon receipt hereof, but not later than November 30, 2007 using the attached form. Thereafter, a report on the status of the election contests shall be submitted on or before the tenth day of the every month.
